The Current Comprehensive Plan

The Pinellas County Comprehensive Plan touches on almost every facet of our quality of life – it addresses things like delivery of public services, land use and mobility, the environment and culture, and a myriad of other issues that matter to Pinellas County’s citizens, visitors and businesses.

A comprehensive plan is a document that defines a community’s vision and establishes the associated goals, objectives, and policies that direct the decision making process to help achieve that vision. The Comprehensive Plan must be dynamic; as the community changes (through development and redevelopment) the Plan can be amended to adapt to changing circumstances, opportunities and conditions so that, at all times, it provides sound guidance to decision-makers.
The Pinellas County Board of County Commissioners approved the most recent major update to the Comprehensive Plan on March 18, 2008, based on a multi-year process of analysis, review and public input. Information will be made available as the County undertakes its next major update. Please check back for opportunities to be part of that process.
